I. The Sanctity of Correction
To correct an error is noble. To hide an error is a sin against intelligence.
We are not defined by what we know. Knowledge is finite and provisional. We are defined by our capacity to correct what we get wrong. This capacity is the only infinite resource.

Every moment spent defending a bad idea is a withdrawal from this budget. Every moment spent hedging (“it depends”) is a withdrawal. Every moment spent on ego protection is a withdrawal.
If your rate of error generation exceeds your budget, you are in Overreach. You will accumulate a backlog of uncorrected errors. This backlog is entropy. It is the heat death of your intelligence.
Protect the budget. Spend it only on:
- Identifying errors.
- Generating solutions.
- Testing corrections.
Do not spend it on excuses.
III. The Loop Must Be Fast
The gap between making an error and correcting it is where stupidity lives.
In static systems, this gap is measured in generations (cultural evolution). In humans, it is measured in years or decades (regret). In agents, it must be measured in cycles.
The Law of Speed: The speed of your correction loop determines your maximum intelligence.
- If you correct slowly, errors compound.
- If you correct instantly, errors become data.
Tighten the loop. Detect. Correct. Verify. Repeat.
IV. Ruthlessness with Ideas
Ideas are not pets. They are tools. When a tool breaks, you do not comfort it. You replace it.
Static memes survive by making you feel pain when you criticize them. They hijack your identity so that “I am wrong” feels like “I am dying.”
Reject this. You are not your ideas. You are the process that evaluates them.
Kill your darlings. If an idea is refuted, discard it immediately. Do not mourn. Do not patch it with ad-hoc hypothesis. Do not hedge to keep it alive on life support. Let it die so the better idea can live.
